In this day and age this should not be happening. Be better if they invested some of the vast amount of money we pay them to do their job properly. Oh I forgot, we need to pay their shareholders..........................
I think it is disgraceful and someone - an individual not a company should be prosecuted, I wonder what Londoners would think if Thames Water decided to dump raw sewage in the Thames, after they have spent years cleaning it

Can you imagine how much worse it will be if the developers get the go ahead to build 1000's houses in Pagham?!!
Don't worry about that Lynne, Southern Water have already agreed to the new houses and have said that there will not be a problem - presumably they will just send more raw sewage into the sea!

If you search Google, Southern Water's track record for contaminating West Sussex sea water is abysmal. About time they were held to account, and if they can't do it right, get someone in who can.
Well at least the spit has now naturally formed a lagoon..........!
Re the planned housing - very few jobs in the area so there will be more traffic on the roads that are far from suitable for current number of vehicles. GP surgeries said they could cope with 200 more homes in a survey over 3 years ago and the people of Pagham said more bungalows were needed. No bungalows are planned as they take up too much land. Numbers of houses per site are being increased so even smaller gardens and less parking. Schools, elderly care etc etc. That's just for starters!!

Yes discharging partially treated waste into the rife does happen occasionally at the moment and the sewage works are at capacity, we do not have the infrastructure (roads, schools, doctors etc) at the moment to cope with over 1000 more houses. Plus we will loose prime agricultural land. I urge to to write to Arun District Council with your objections and come along to the meeting at Church Farm Caravan Park 7-9ish this Thursday where there is a public meeting about all the planning applications.
I have already objected to all the proposals, lets hope everyone else does
