Hello everyone,

Seeking information on the family of Thomas Swain b1812 Barrowby, Lincolnshire.

My research has lead me to believe his parents were John Swain and Ann Parks.

He married Ann Hand on June 30th 1835 and apparently had 6 children. I feel some of these children went into poor house ? in Grantham. I do not know what happened to his wife, or if any of his children survived and am keen to discover any further information on his parents, siblings, wife or children from his first marriage to Ann Hand.

He was an agricultural labourer found guilty of sheep stealing and sentenced to 10 years as a convict. He was convicted 1850 and spent time in a prison in England and travelled on Sea Park to WA arriving 1854. He was granted conditional pardon in 1855 and travelled to SA where he purchased land and started another family. He died in 1898.

Any clues/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jane
