For those of you who are thinking of moving to Copford, there are many things to consider.

Firstly, the pros.

  • Copford is mainly within 15 minutes walk of Marks Tey Station, which is on the London Liverpool Street to Norwich line and has a branch line that runs a regular service to Sudbury.
  • The London Road end is served by 3 buses every hor during weekdays. These run to Colchester, Braintree and Chelmsford (which can also be accessed by rail).
  • It is within easy reach of the Tollgate shopping area.
  • 5 minutes from the A12.
  • Has a decent pub.
  • Good primary school.

Now the cons.

  • There are no shops. The nearest Post Offices are in Marks Tey or just over the border in Stanway (the more friendlier of the 2).
  • If you live beyond the village hall, then there is only a bus on Wednesday.
  • Commuter parking on London Road, School Road, Allendale Drive and in the Queensbury Avenue areas is extremely chaotic and has lead to several accidents as it is almost impossible to safely exit your driveway.
  • Nearest GP surgery is 2.5 miles from Copford Green at Tollgate.
