Hi, I've booked a stay at the Innkeepers Lodge in Dulwich village. I understand there are traffic restrictions on weekdays between 3pm and 6pm. But not knowing the area I'm confused about access. Can anyone tell me if I can drive from Dulwich Common down College Rd to the Lodge at 4pm please?

Although you can travel from Dulwich Village to College Road freely, you cannot travel back from College Road to Dulwich Village via the roundabout exit between the times stated. Nor can you take the Burbage Road roundabout exit before…as thats also a Bus Gate. You would basically have to drive down the A205 towards Lordship Lane and turn off onto East Dulwich Grove and back towards Dulwich Village. The other routes via Turney Road have Bus Gates and Townley Road has one Bus Gate with the same times. Calton Avenue next to Townley Road is blocked hence the directions I have given you.

In my opinion, I dont think the council gave sufficient consideration to the design and placement of these experimental traffic measures, and the aftermath of such restrictions. Including and not limited to the excess pollution it has created from the idling engines now stuck in traffic jams due to the blocked alternative routes…kind of defeats the point right? It has also sacrificed the air quality of some unfortunate residents to benefit those protected by the newly installed restrictions. Its blocked emergency vehicles accessing roads including disabled people. Nor do I feel the council have considered the difficulty motorists would face assimilating time/day specific prohibitions under such challenging conditions when navigating a roundabout in a turning motion with all its hazards and in the short distance and time available…its completely unreasonable. The financial implications on motorists after being caught out by these sporadically placed Bus Gates has been excessive…the same price as someones weekly food provisions.
