Good morning,

I have just received a penalty charge notice for driving through dulwich village a route I have taken for many years at 08:16am. I fear I may be receiving more as I drove through every day for a week. I know there are many people that have been hit by this but my question is, is there a time when you can drive through the villlage, because I didn’t see or notice any changes or signage.

I cannot believe notice wasn’t given to drivers and grateful for any help. If I’m wrong I’ll pay it, but not if I have four or five more arriving. But would be grateful if I’m told by someone one this forum, what the correct times are as I only appear to have it one way, going towards the village to get to jags sports club.

thank you in advance for any help,or advice

I got one too last week and definately did not see any signs. Apparently they have a small tiny sign but nothing very clear. I would like to appeal too but unsure I will get far as others seem to have tried too.

I got a ticket last week and a couple weeks before. I paid the first promptly without giving it a thought thinking I must have somehow gone into a bus lane as stated in the notice even though I tried to think where that could have been. To my surprise I got another one today I know I haven’t been in any bus lane they sent a picture which is even more confusing as the picture was taken from a distance and literally impossible to recognise whether it’s a bus lane or what. If this is to continue literally everyone driving through Dulwich will be receiving a ticket. Everyone should be refunded because this is stealth and underhanded and that’s not allowed. I will be strongly appealing this ticket and the previous one.

Did you approach the Dulwich Village roundabout via College Road or Gallery Road or Burbage Road?

I received two the first one I paid not giving it much thought to my surprise I got another one so I decided to check the area. I couldn’t see any signs or markings on the road, so I decided to Erie to the council appealing both tickets, this was more than a week ago to date I haven’t heard back from them. My advice is that you appeal on the grounds there are no signs or street markings indicating that you would be in violation if you enter.

You are mistaken there are in fact Bus Gate road markings at the Dulwich Village bus gate and the other Bus Gates in the vicinity. I would suggest reading decided cases on London Tribunal’s register of appeals, you will then understand the grounds which are winning. Also the road you approached the Bus Gate has importance when challenging the penalty, due to the issues of the advanced warning signs (which theres probably no point explaining, as you seemingly overlooked my previous points and I doubt you would take on-board any advise). Anyway good luck in your appeal.

Ive received a PCN for contravention 33e (Dulwich northbound) towards Pickwick Road and have no idea what I have done wrong.

Similarly Ive been driving to Dulwich park for decades and never had a ticket before. I'll need to go and review the signage.

Are other people going to appeal? Does anyone know the legal position and whether its worth the arguement or should I just pay this. It feels very unfair - I feel like this is entrapment!!

What road did you approach the Dulwich Village roundabout?

I can draft some representations once I know the route of approach.

Hello Ryan - thats so kind. Ill need to go back to the village to check and will email you again.

Just opened the lunchtime mail to receive a 2nd PCN for the exact same contravention.

Have to confess its reduced me to tears.

I'll email again as soon as I know which road I came down.

Thank you so much for your response and offer of help
