Drivers of diesel cars are being demonised, yet the latest generation (leaving out those who cheat on the emissions tests) are cleaner than ever. There was something in the press recently about old ice cream vans with motors running constantly to keep the freezer generators going and belching out pollution. Anyone stood in KL bus station recently? How many buses are there standing there with engines running? My car switches off automatically at lights, junctions etc, when I stop. So did my last one and so do many others. OK so maybe buses don't have that technology, but they do have a clever little device called Driver's Hand And On/Off Switch.

We have said that about buses for years, and taxis too. There is a rise in the increase of childhood asthma and have always put it down to the pollution in our high streets from cars, lorries and buses sitting with their engines running whilst Mums talk to each other with their babies and children in pushchairs breathing in the exhaust fumes.
