I have lived in Hemingbrough for over 36 yrs and I went along to the Hemingbrough Hall Exhibition held in the Methodist Church Hall to ask various questions relating to the proposal to build a community facility and 140 new houses unfortunately Mr Ben Pilgrim who was hosting the event was unable to answer most of my questions.

I am not against new houses being built in Hemingbrough in fact I believe we need new development to support and expand the existing facility's within the village as we don't want to loose the doctors , shops and pubs and they need to be supported.

The building of a village community centre is a good idea and presumably having it funded by a commercial development would be cost effective the previous poll that is quoted as having 98% support in the invitations sent out by Royal Pilgrim is not a true reflection of the situation as it failed to mention that it would be built on the back of 140 new houses or where the hall was to be built.

A few years ago there was a move from central Government asking local councils to highlight areas of land to support new housing developments and permanent sites for the traveling community it highlighted land north of the A63 feelings ran very high at he time partly due to the fact the residents of Hemingbrough didn't want a permanent traveling site within the village but also because houses built north of the A63 would split the village as it has at Cliff.

Building 140 houses North of the busy A63 would create problems as all the village facilities are all South of the A63 and 140 houses would produce approximately 200 cars say 200 children that all have to cross the busy A63 to get to School , nursery , doctors shops and the playing fields.

I started this by stating that I am not against new housing developments in Hemingbrough there is plenty of land South of the A63 that would take a development of 140 properties without the problems that splitting the village would bring , and I feel strongly that any proposal to develop land north of the A63 should be apposed.
