from Sonia of Cwm Mabws
Phone and internet service has at last been installed here, so I can thank you for you generous help on my arrival. A big thank you to neighbours for posting a plea on my behalf and taking the time to collect the vacuum cleaner and lawn-mower from two kind ladies. Please give me your names: both were essential, as the house was empty for many months.
A special thank you to David and Kate for the desk, shelves and mirror, and for taking the time and effort to carry them upstairs and assemble the shelves in the study. All so valuable, since I had donated nearly all of my old furniture to a hospice before, where I expected to end up, since I was very ill then. Thank you, Anne, for the rocking chair, and Pauline, for the lovely dinner set, glasses, fruit bowl and lamp: so useful in an empty kitchen.
Glen and Julie, the coffee-table has been very handy, but the settee is too heavy for me to move and I cannot keep it. I have offerred it to all the charity shops and antique dealers, without success, because the leather seats are scratched and torn. I don't have transport and the Council charge for removing it is £65! Would you be good enough to take it? That would be a weight off my mind.
I plan to hold a house-warming party for all of you, once the place is sorted, and will need your e-mail addresses.
Look forward to hearing from you. Happy Easter wishes from Sonia
