Looking for long time Millport residents
Hi,
I'm hoping somebody from Millport can assist me.
My Mother is 80 next March and spent her early years in Millport while my Grandfather was stationed there during the second world war and afterwards.
I am intending to bring her back to the Island to celebrate her birthday and it would be fantastic if there was anyone on the Island who she went to school/played with during her years there.
We also spent every summer between approx 1965 and 1980 on the Island.
This is what I know so hopefully someone may recognise something
Her name was Pauleen Stephens. They lived with Nancy and Donald McDonald who lived in the upstairs flat on the corner of Kelburn Street and Craig Street. (Opposite the putting green)
She often talks about "Aunt" Jean frame and also Mimi (I believe)
Her married name is Gilbert
Her Mother was Jean Stephens and her Father John Stephens known as Jock or more affectionately as Jocka Steen
During the 60's and 70's my father (Bill) Gilbert and my Grandad would spend their time playing bowls (by the Garrison if I remember correctly) or Golf
