Kate (Kitty) Mercer Short Street
Hello fellow Spudlanders,
Following the death of my mother and having just turned 60, I've taken on the task of documenting my ancestry.
I've got all the way back to the early 1500's on my maternal Grandmother's side, but hit a brick wall at stage one on my maternal Grandfather's side.
I am trying to get any information on my great Grandmother Kate Mercer, known as Kitty. She lived in Short Street for many years. I believe my Grandfather was an only child, but not sure. He was Thomas Clark, married to Ivy Grundy and lived on Common Rd until the late 60's. They had 2 children, my mother, Jean Clark (Perks) and Gwen Clark. My Grandfather served in Burma during WW2 and worked at the Vulcan Foundry.
I never knew who my great Grandfather was, but can vaguely remembering visiting my great Grandmother Kitty in Short Street in the early 60's. By this time, she was frail and sleeping downstairs. My Grandfather Thomas was born in 1912, so I am guessing she was born around1890's. She died mid 1960's.
I have a couple of paid subscriptions to geneology sites which have drawn a blank and there are no living relatives left to ask.
I'm hoping there is a remote chance someone might have memories or resources that may assist!
