Garter Snake

We had a garter Snake in our garden yesterday , on York Rd, not far from the Pond .
Never seen one before , it was slithering in & out of my veg plot ,then went off into my strawberries,
It pale Brown about 3 foot long , very interesting.
Has anyone else seen one ? , and dose any one know if it will go from garden to garden , or stay around ours ??.
