I am a 72 year old woman who has just moved to Norwich and would like to meet new friends, I don't have transport, I have always been active but find myself isolated and less able than I have been, there must be others like me in Norwich who would like company and to share experiences.

Hi!

The main library (in the Forum) has lots of events - colouring, drawing, knit and knatter, board games, reading groups. And a lot of the smaller libraries run similar groups too, so that might be a good place to go.

Kindakafe (on Castle Meadow - near Opie Street) are running a week of Get Togethers next week, starting with a Women's Care and Share cofee morning tomorrow 10-12. And if you're into history/secret tunnels I highly reccommend the tours they're running on Tuesday

The "Board Meeting" - board games at the Forum Library are on Tuesday afternoons, officially 2:15-4:15 but in practice people are there any time from about 12:30 onwards and some of us stay until chucking-out time (7pm). I am there every week to play chess, but a lot of Scrabble and various other games go on there, too. Chess sets etc (and jugs of water and glasses) are brought out around 2:15 so you need to bring your own if you come earlier.

Go through to the back of the library and up the stairs in front of you, at the top go round to the left. I'm the ancient chubby blonde with the long nose and Rubik's Cubes. Welcome to Norwich, Dee!

Beaten to it by Baronelly, I see. If you want the lowdown on where it's all at follow her to The Forum. I usually get down there later in the afternoon. Norwich and Norfolk have just about everything. There's a couple of stands downstairs stuffed full of leaflets just to emphasise the life in the place. Hope that helps.

Welcome

Some of the churches in the city have weekly activities which is a good way to meet new people. It depends Where you are.

I have an update on the "Board Meeting":
Today the U3A (shared learning for retired people) Norwich Chess Group has disbanded and members are likely to be coming to the Forum on Tuesday afternoons instead, and also to the GlassHouse (Wetherspoon) on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9:30-ish to noon. Most of us are social (rather than good!) chess players and we are all friendly people. The GlassHouse is opposite the bottom of Elm Hill, we play in the Family Room, ground level on the right.

See you there!

Hi, (I Don't know what your name is).  I found you because you were playing chess with my friend Peter on Chess.com.  You have a picture of you playing a guitar.  Looks like you are into country and western?  I hate it apart from 'Stand by your man'  and 'Crazy'.  Too predictable for me.  I used to play and sing a song called 'Old shep'.  I like music though.  If you would like to challenge me on Chess.com, my name is Sandy-1730.  I live in Norfolk as well.  Cheers, Sandy

Hi Sandy and thanks for that.

No, I don't play country and western, more rock, jazz and blues.
Here's a solo guitar instrumental I wrote: Home and Dry

And you can see me in my avatar picture on here playing bass with my band Bright Spark.

I'll send you a private message about chess, but I am 'barrenelly' on every site I'm on.

My real name is Heather Enid Wells
