What are we up to on the allotment. lifted a great crop of potatoes these are being stored in paper sacks after sorting out the very small, damaged which will be used up immediately, Been inundated with runner beans filled freezer, eaten fresh as much as possible now stripped any looking old to get the plants to late flower.
Soon starting pruning my summer raspberries prune out the old fruited stems and the very weak growth and thin out to give me a spacing of 4"(100mm) between the new canes which I will tie in to the supports,
Dug up my old strawberries and planted a new bed with runners I . have taken off plants I bought last year.
Sown Lettuce, spring onions, peas, chard, turnips, black Russian radish
Planted some Autumn Onions, Spring Cabbage and later this month I will plant my garlic.
Did you know you can get Grow Led lights for raising your seeds and growing your house plants, this gives of a cool light and does not heat up and cheaper to run. Also less expensive to buy.
Still time to buy treated (Cold stored) potatoes for growing on and harvesting for Christmas.
