When I first joined I inadvertently replied to a post from a Sussex forum and ever since then I get loads of alerts and new posts from that forum. I don't have a connection to that area and would like to know how I can drop out of that particular forum. Cheers

There's a  box you click on to opt out of receiving alerts on the thread.

Hi Jasper, it took me a while to find this box. Scroll down and it's just above the post your reply box

As well as the 'on the topic thread' way of opting out, as mentioned above, there is also another way and that is at bottom of each topic reply email you receive there's a link and you can click it to turn emails off for that topic.

Hope this helps.

I unchecked the box near the reply email so as not receive any further alerts but it doesn't appear to work as I still get topic reply alerts and I notice the to decline further emails is checked again. I like this site but navigation isn't that straightforward. As for the alternative opt out at the top......it didn't show anywhere.

You need to untick every time you look at a post. I agree it isn't straightforward. We need something more permanent in our set

I've ended up on the Aldwycke forum in Sussex, I untick the box for no more notifications from this thread but the notifications keep coming and when I look the notification box is ticked again. Just an observation but if admin are looking in......why not just have one forum i.e general discussion for each area that way everybody will use/look at the same forum rather than scrolling through numerous specific forums like banking, ancestry, property for rent etc. Keeping it simple......just saying!!

Hi, we will certainly look into the notifications issue, though it should definitely not be ticked if you have previously told it not to notify you for that actual topic.

In response to your idea for 1 forum: we have created an easy to use list so you can see all the latest posts in one place.

It would be much easier if we could sign up for those areas we like to use on a regular basis - e.g. Our own town/village and relevant surrounding ones, with only those for which we've opted in being received. It's pretty boring getting posts from very far away which are usually irrelevant, apart from possibly having the same comments/suggestions on how to improve and simplify this site.  Thanks for the efforts you're making to bring this about.
