Over the past few months, I have led Wildlife Walks alongside the River Wensum along the Marriott Way, organising them via Streetlife. If anyone is interested, I would like to continue these - they are mid-week morning walks, at an easy pace, about two to three miles long, just to see the wildlife in the area. It can be extremely muddy, so stout footwear and sturdy outdoor garb is suggested.

Whilst I like dogs, the walks are not really suitable for them, as there is no guarantee that other participants will enjoy their company, and they do have a tendency to disturb the very wildlife we hope to see.

If anyone is interested, please let me know.

I would suggest that you PM your regulars or people that have shown an interest in your walks the directions to this site on Streetlife while you still have the chance, as posts showing the URL are being blocked there.

Thanks, Ray, but I was a little sneaky with the posts I put on Streetlife with this site's URL, and they are both still there !! I have  PM'd several of the people who came on the walks, but it was a different contingent each time. There is always the possibility, of course, that they may not wish to change to Norwich Forum.

Hi

Thanks for joining from Streetlife everyone.

Just to say - There should be a forum for each town (in the drop down list) and if ever you find that any town/village etc does not have a forum, please let us know and we will add it straight away.

Our aim has always been to have a forum for each and every area, village and town in the UK and most do have one but if any are missing we are very happy for you to tell us so we can put it right.

Hope you enjoy the forum - We are quite a new site and are open to any ideas and suggestions you may have for us to improve.

Thanks,

Jan

Certainly, Angela - welcome aboard.

We meet about ten in the morning at the start of the Marriott Way, near Halfords Roundabout (see map), then walk along beside the river to Anderson's Meadow. With the river now on our left, we cross Mile Cross Road (with care !) and continue alongside the river to the Nature Reserve, where there is a seat for those who need it (apart from me !).

This marks the half way point of the walk, but if anyone wishes, we can continue through fields as far as Hellesdon Mill before retracing our steps.

Not being a motorist, I cannot advise on car parking, I'm afraid.

The 'short walk' usually takes about two hours.

Hope to see you when the walks start again (when the weather is more clement, really, although if anyone wants to go out, get soaked and freeze, they only have to say !) - when one is planned, I'll put details on this thread. Please PM me if you require my phone number.

Hi, Holly,

I've posted the appropriate info in this thread, in response to Angela's earlier query. If you would like more details, please PM me and we can discuss anything else you'd like to know. Hoping to see you when the weather improves.

Brief update - went out for a walk this morning, as it was bright and sunny. Spent more time taking photos than anything else, but saw 18 bird species, and one American Tree Rat (obviously a spy for NextDoor !). Maybe if the weather is good in a week or so, I could 'Organise' something, if anyone's interested. Please let me know which days suit people, and we can take it from there.
