Hello !

We are a young family with 2 children ( 7y ,almost2y) currently living in Manchester . We was thinking to make a change , start from 0 and relocate to Orkney .  I love to bake and even if I am not qualified I did some great homemade cakes for friends and why not maybe I can come with something up . How is renting there , prices , documents , you can rent without having a job ? ? And also jobs ? My partner is it a driver courier

Many thanks

Hello!

I am looking to move myself and menagerie (2 dogs, one cat and two chickens) to Orkney.  After a lifetime in the SE of the country I am finally able to consider something doing what I really want to do.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and clinical supervisor - a job which can now be done anywhere via Zoom so.... From Ramsgate to Stormness - who on earth can do the move?  how do I deal with the creatures ?  Do I drive up there in my camper with all on-board? Has anyone found unexpected difficulties ?  I am looking for peace and space, community and privacy.

Any tips welcomed.

Thanks - Mabelle

Hi. I'm 44 years old, work as a medical secretary and am a single parent of an autistic son, aged 14. I am also a qualified yoga teacher.  I feel like I'm at a bit of a dead end and have spent time reflecting on my life and what I want as a future for my son and I. Ultimately, I'd like to find a job that I love, a sense of community, a much calmer peaceful way of life, meet new friends and enjoy hobbies including teaching yoga. I have been thinking of relocating to Orkney for around 8 months but I don't know where to start.  I'd have to find a house to rent, get a job and put Murray into a school for additional needs.  Can anyone advise where to start as it seems like a bit of a minefield. Thank you!
