I have found that I have TWO family history links to SHILBOTTLE!

1) Mary Ann Laing (born 18/09/1802) in Hazon, Northumberland. She married George Atkinson in Brigg, Lincolnshire and they moved to Hull, East Yorkshire where they had a music shop.  They had quite a large family. - they are my 3x great grandparents.

2) Mary Ann Turner (born 07/07/1629) who was the daughter of Robert and Debora Turner of Turnerstead, Shilbottle.  This Mary Ann married Henry Greer, who we understand was a Quaker and they moved over to Ireland.

It is their SHILBOTTLE history that I am interested in.  If I can help anyone on their later family history I will.  Thank you.

Greer

Hi Gillian.

Just spotted your message today.

Henry Greer and Mary Turner are on my family line l have been researching my family tree for some 18 months now.

Henry and Mary had a number of children one of which was my family line born 1675 but unfortunately have no name. That person then had a son born 1695 again no name, that son then had a son born 1721 finally that son had a child  born 1751 at Timaconway County Londonderry he is referred to as Timaconway Greer but this is not his actual name. Timaconway is the townland name for our family farm which has been in the family for a few hundred years now and he was my great grandfather 4x removed.

I would love to learn the actual names for these four persons and that of their respective wives. I would love to hear from you and assist with your research if possible.

Regards

Greer Morrison

Sun is shining and the garden beckons but I was very excited to get you message.  I will come back to you, hopefully this evening, so we can discuss 'our trees'.  Quite excited!  Gillian

I hope you have had an enjoyable holiday in Ireland.

I am related to Henry and Mary ... maybe it is easier if I go back from me - Gillian Rosalind Callaghan (Born 1946) : my great grandmother was Betha Blain Haughton, daughter of David Haughton (1832 - 1904) who was the son of Benjamin Haughton (1781-1862) and Rachel Malcolmson Fennell.  My e.mail is [email protected]

My story was complicated because I was adopted - I didn't start looking for my ancestors until my adopted father died in 2002.  Long story - keep it short! I have met so many of my birth family and they are such lovely people so I am lucky in that I have both adopted and birth family!

I am on Ancestry if that helps any.  I look forward to hearing from you and all about your Irish holiday. Gillian
