David Bertram
Through meticulous research I have discovered the one and only David Bertram residing in the Midlothian area who is of the correct age (13 years old in 1841) and was living with a lady by the name of Helen Campbell as per the 1841 Census (David's parents appear on his Death Certificate as David Bertram and Agnes CAMPBELL - Helen possibly being Agnes' mother).
This, of course, is by no means definite proof that this is the David Bertram who is my Great, Great, Grandfather, but taking into account the above information, I feel he is my best shot at this point in time.
Through other research I have discovered that Helen Campbell may have owned or worked at a local fruit/vegetable shop.
I intend to make the trip to Scotland in the near future but in the meantime request your assistance through your local knowledge to obtain further evidence to David's existence and his standing in the community.
David came out to Australia at the age of 21 years (1849).
