I am searching for the family of the late Douglas Thomas Jones born Bedlinog 24th July 1936 and died after being shot in Cyprus 11th February 1956 while serving in the RAF. Douglas's body was brought home from Cyprus by his parents to be buried in Bedlinog.
Douglas's father was Caradog Jones and his home address was Chapel St Bedlinog.
The reason for my search is to tell his family that since 2009 his next of kin are eligible to receive The Elizabeth Cross, for more information Google Les Smith Cyprus Veteran.
If you can help or point me in the right direction please e-mail me at [email protected]

Hi,
I am looking for an address in Bedlinog from 1900 but can't locate on a map . I have the address on a Birth Certificate. 6 Quarry Row.
I know that Quarry Row is between Graig Terrace and Upper High Street but why was it never marked on a map?
Regards Gareth.

I have been researching my family tree and I would like to know where she fits in to my tree. My great grandfathers name was William Benjamin Evans, wife's name was Esther. They lived for a time in Hylton Terrace. My grandmothers name was Margaret Mary Evans to married Arthur Thomas Burston.

I am looking for the marriage of John DAVIES and Ann ? in 1874. John was 14 years older than Ann at the time of their wedding. Their first child was Agnes DAVIES followed by Sarah, Ann,James,Mary, William and Esther. Sarah married Lewis T WILLIAMS and they had two sons David T WILLIAMS and Lewis T WILLIAMS.
Agnes DAVIES married Hugh PUGH and they went to live in Brynmynach Ave Ystrad Mynach. The DAVIES family lived in Colly Row and in Bedlinog Tce. Any help about these families would be appreciated, especially the maiden name of John DAVIES' wife Ann.
I was just wondering if there are any descendants of George and Susan Price who lived in Mount Pleasant in 1901 and Edward's terrace in 1911 still in the area . They had a number of children including my grandmother Annie ( married to George Roberts) who I later lived with in Mary street (1954-65)There was also Louisa who married and lived in Muriel Terrace.

Hello, I'm one of two editors of Merthyr Historian. It's the publication of the Merthyr Tydfil Historical Society. It covers the whole region, not just Merthyr town. On November 26th we launch volume 29, for 2018. Are there keen local historians in Bedlinog? Are you one of them? Could you, or someone you know, research and write a piece about Bedlinog's past, for consideration by Merthyr Historian? It has been much too silent about Bedlinog (my father was a Bedlinog boy).
It could be a piece on almost anything - local culture (music/ artists/ Welsh language culture/ writers/ pub culture); local environment; politics; religion; sport; significant events, significant characters, industry, health, transport; farm history, village development etc. etc.. If you know of someone who might be interested, please pass on the message. We'd be happy to talk it over.
Leslie was born in Bedlanog in May 1911, his father was named Morgan Leslie, after leaving Bedlanog I believe he joined the Merchant Navy and he was serving as an A.B in 1938, that is where I lost him, also I have no knowledge of his family or ancestors, if anyone can throw a light into this darkness I'm in I would be most gratefull, thank you
