Wisbech Nursing Home and Sluice Passage - 0 replies

Norman Long Posted by Norman Long in General Wisbech discussion on Sun Feb 4, 2018 4:43pm

I was born in the nursing home at 33 Lynn Road Wisbech in Oct 1945. My mother, having been demobbed because of her pregnancy, was staying with her mother at 9 Sluice Passage after having been bombed out of their previous home while at work  My father was still in the Army . I have been trying to find pictures of the area, which has been demolished. Also any photos of the old Horsefair in the 1950's which I can just about remember, as we used to visit Gran- travelling from Ely on ECOC buses changing to the Bluebell buses from March to Wisbech. Gran was moved from Sluice passage to Savory Rd later on. I live in Sussex and so It is too far to travel to research. I remember the canal, and going to the cinema to see Tony Curtis in "Houdini" My mother's maiden name was Wheatley, and Gran's maiden name was Mason.
