My ancestors came from Moray, some from Dyke but the main family lived in Broom of Moy in the nineteenth century. I am interested in learning about what Broom of Moy was like in those days and wondered if anyone could provide some background information. The internet has some useful links but I thought a local group might have their own views on how it was. The family was not wealthy, the father was a mason who died young and left his widow and children in straightened circumstances. I have a photograph of their house taken in the 1905, see below, and can provide more details on the family if useful / of interest.
I shall be staying in Nairn and Portsoy in early August and hope to visit the two settlements.
