Austerfield in 16th Century

As part of my family research I have identified a direct ancestor in Austerfield born in 1575. I have no knowledge of Austerfield and would like to know if there is any organisation with information as to what the village was like in those times ie size of population, main type of work done, etc.
Any help would be appreciated
