Hello all!

My name is Daniel Phillips. I am 22 years old. I have been coming to Barmouth for 12 years, since my parents bought a property called Fron Heulog, in the valley adjacent to Caerdion (4 miles away from Barmouth). My late Grandmother grew up in Arthog, and my late Great Aunt lived in Rhydymain. In short, my family has lived in and around Gwynedd for generations.

I am a violinist and a student of philosophy. I am applying to Oxford for a master's in music the Autumn. As a music student entering my final year of undergraduate study at the University of Manchester, my workload has increased in a fashion commensurate to my ambition.

I come to visit Fron Heulog, and indeed Barmouth, whenever I can, for I enjoy spending time in the area with my two parents and my sister. It is becoming impossible to meet the demands of a degree in a small two-room cottage housing four adults, however. I am unable to practice my violin in the property due to lack of space, which is preventing me from spending time with my family in the area of the world which we hold most dear.

I would be very grateful if any member of the forum might provide me with some advice as to how I might secure some practice space in Barmouth in future. I have already contacted the Sailor's Institute, but if any members know of a more apt venue for practicing violin/conducting academic research I would be grateful if you could give me some advice.

Best wishes,

Dan Phillips
