Does anyone know what happened to the Gift Box Boutique in the high st, as I was only in there Thursday week and when I drove past yesterday it was all closed up? Such a shame as it was my favourite shop

The lease went up and I think it was for a long one, such a shame could always find a gift for a special birthday or Christmas presents will be missed.

Not a bad guess, however I don’t think so, or there would have been a sign of some kind.

Shame they didn’t say if they were moving to new premises....

A person who works in the high street had informed me that was the reason, unfortunately the land lords of Billericay are getting very greedy for the the rents and we will get more empty shops for the that reason. It's very sad as Billericay high street was a lovely place to shop.  We have lived here for over 30 years and have seen a becline in the shopping facility's available to the residense of Billericay. All cafes and coffee shops I don't do Coffee.

Thanks for putting me straight. I too have been here for 35 + yrs and agree with you that unless the rent/rates are a reasonable price there will be too many other units closing which in turn could be the demise of our high street. What will the landlords do then when they have no one to rent to? Do we really want more unattractive chain stores, charity shops and coffee shops....
