I am trying to trace the history of my grandfather who brought me up as his own son after my father died.

His name is Evan John Jones (deceased) born in May 1900 in the house next to Penygeulan Quarry north of Beulah.

His mother was Harriet Jones who lived next door to the blacksmith in Beulah, just down from the Church (or Chapel) she died      around 1960.

As far as we know he was born out of wedlock and was sent south to his Aunt, his mothers sister to live in Trelewis, Glamorgan.

I met my great gran many times as a child and have also visited the house and quarry at Penygeulan as my grandfather used to take me to the Beulah show with our ponies and I even won a prize there once.

I believe that I have quite a few distant relatives still living in Beulah.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ian Meyrick
