Police are appealing for the public's help to identify a man who was found dead in Gateshead

Dated: 13 Apr 2016

Police are appealing for the public's help to identify a man who was found dead in Gateshead.

The man was found at 5.15pm on Tuesday, April 12, near to the old railway viaduct on the Derwent Walk in between Winlaton Mill and Rowlands Gill.

Emergency services attended and the man was declared dead at the scene.

Enquiries have been carried out to identify who the man is, however, his identity still remains unknown.

He is described as a white male, early 40’s, 5’10" to 6’ tall, medium build, short brown greying hair, wearing a black waist length rain jacket, a grey "Game of Thrones" T-shirt, blue jeans, blue Nike trainers and a tattoo of an oriental dragon on his left arm.

Chief Inspector Dave Gould said: "We're asking for help from the public to ask if they recognise this man from his description. So far we have been unable to identify him and we want to be able to inform his family of his death.

"If anyone thinks they may know who he is then we would like them to get in contact."

The man's death is being treated as unexplained, however, there is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Anyone who thinks they may know who the man is is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 765 120416.
