Visit to Manchester Christmas Market

I have family staying with me. They would like to visit Manchester Christmas Market tomorrow.

Can anyone advise the best way to go from Sandbach? 

By car? Is parking easy?

By train to Piccadilly? If so, how easy is it to get the tram over to Market? Or are we better to get 2nd train to Victoria? 

Please help, if you can. I'd really appreciate any advice.
