Peculiar animal sighted in Wivenhoe Wood today.
At approximately 16.30 today my dog and I came across an unfamiliar creature just inside Wivenhoe Wood at the entrance from King George's playing field at the bottom end next to the railway station. It was bigger than a cat with a body similar to a fox. It had a pointy snout and pricked up forward facing ears that stood out because they were white or grey whilst the face was black or brown. Its coat was short-haired and a mixture of black and brown, its tail was long with very defined white and brown stripes. It ran away into the undergrowth when it saw me but not immediately so I was able to get a bit of a look at it. It resembled a civet but I don't think that is likely. Anybody else spotted something similar?
