Green Chaos at North Somerset Council.
The recycling base in Backwell is likely to close in order to save N.S Council £300,000 a year which will go towards reducing the £17 million funding gap for 23/24. At the same time this very Green and very Independent council are spending £750,000 on the controversial plans to re vamp Clevedon Victorian promenade. Closing the tip will lead to endemic fly tipping, which will be costly to clear and cause more carbon emitting car journeys to Portishead or Weston. The Clevedon debacle is a total unnecessary waste of money and will benefit only cyclists passing through at great speed, watch out any pedestrians ! Locals will no longer be able to sit in their cars and look at the sea, local businesses who largely depend on people who come for a relaxing stroll and a cup of tea, will sufffer. Surely this is a very one dimensional council in fact the worst council ever! Gill.
