Melksham Ancestors
Help needed. I've done the DNA test with myheritage.com & traced my family back to Wiltshire with many coming from Melksham. My great grandparents were Isaac Edwards born 1870 in Everleigh & Rosina b. Jan 1866 in Melksham. She had a daughter, Maude b.1890 before they married. Their son William b.1897 was my great grandfather. Rosina's parents were John Smith & Jemima (Croot). The family tree is quite extensive & includes Gingell, Edwards, Spencer, Prew, Kingman, Bower & more. A match of mine who lives in Canada also descends from Melksham families & we both share a small amount of African DNA which makes me wonder whether we could possibly be descended from Richard Newman & his wife Deborah (Alexander) who was from Jamaica. They had nine children & some, if not all, married in the Melksham & Castle Combe area. Does anyone have any knowledge of whether there are any family connections. Deborah died in Corsham in 1831.
