South Liverpool football club
I’m sure lots of you will have fond memories of South Liverpool playing at Holly Park in the Northern Premier league against the likes of Wigan Athletic and Barrow, both now in the football league. South have had a long and illustrious history which included winning the Welsh cup, playing a Nigerian eleven who played in bare feet in front of 13,000 and hosting a charity match in which the great Puskas played in. The club also produced such greats as Jimmy Case and John Aldridge. Unfortunately South fell on bad times and for the last 30 years played in amateur football leagues, the great news is South are back in Semi professional football and last season started to play in the 9th tier North West Counties league. They are based at Jericho hub on Jericho lane and are the only semi professional club in the south of the city, so why not give them a try we would love to see you.
