Halloween (alternative fun).
Halloween.
Personally,I'm not a fan of Halloween so called "traditions". Firstly,I don't believe that any child should ever have to beg. I understand this is not how everyone perceives it, but there is also the direct contradiction in spending the whole year telling kids not to take sweets from strangers, but just tonight it's ok to advertise your children to God only knows who. Many older people, those who have mental health problems and those made nervous by the sudden crimewave that cannot be ignored, will really struggle to deal with knocking on doors, what is essentially threats and just the general disturbance. Why not consider trying some of our more traditional All Hallows Eve traditions and games? Of course, you get to enjoy a nice warming bonfire. This link describes a number of traditional games that children and adults might enjoy. Why not ring the changes this year? You never know, you might enjoy it even more and nobody has to be sick from all that chocolate. As for Samhain,it lasts for as long as the collective bounty of scrumpy, mead and poteen.
