Is Bankhouse in or near Bankhead?

My descendent John Scot was said to have been a resident of Bankhead, Langholm c1683, but the name Bankhouse (Bankhowse) seems to come up a lot also. They are very similar. I am unable to find any information on Bankhouse. Does any one know if it was a farm or village in the area? Or even where it is located. Thanks in advance.
