Searching for information on my ancestors

Hi I’m searching for information about my Pennine ancestors the Nicholson’s.
I know they were living in the area as Yeoman farmers from at least the Seventeenth Century.
Places mentioned include Brough Sowerby
Dowgill Head
Stainmore
I would love to trace the farms and places where they lived.
They also farmed in Nateby and Winton.
My Great Grandma Rose Nicholson was in Winton.
My Great, Great grandfather John Robert Nicholson retired at Hawthorn cottages in Winton.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
