Family History and the George & Dragon
My first cousin 3 times removed was Richard Watts. He was born in Wardington in 1868. He married Amy Watts in 1892. She lived with her great aunt and uncle, Richard and Elizabeth Wilkins in the village. I have no idea who her parents were. Richard was the village postman and in 1901 they were living at the pub. In 1908 he became the licensee but died the following year. Amy took over the licence in 1910. She married George William Woodcock in 1913. She was still at the pub in 1949. She had 3 boys, namely Francis Cecil 1893- 1957,Leonard Ralph 1898 - and Cecil Albert 1904 - 1973. Francis married Harriet Ida Timms and in 1939 they were living in "Rosedene" in the village. They had Richard,Geoffrey,Cecil, Joan& Jean (twins). Cecil Albert moved to Hove,Sussex. Leonard married Florence and they had a daughter Joyce. They were living with Amy in 1939.
