Burgums in Eardington: any information?
I am looking for information on the Burgum family who lived in the area. John Burgum was born in Eardington in about 1796, the son of Henry Burgum. John also had a brother George. Jump forward 65 years and the 1861 tells us he had moved to Dartmouth Street, in Aston, Birmingham. His occupation there was listed as an engineer and millwright. His wife Mary was working as a publican. John and Mary had 5 children - Jane, Elizabeth, John, Sarah and George.
I know quite a lot about one of the children, John Burgum junior (born in Birmingham in 1826) who travelled to Boston in 1850, finally settling in Concord, New Hampshire. He was an artist and he became the chief ornamental painter of the famous Concord stagecoaches. He also married the adopted daughter of Countess Rumford. You can read more about him here -

However is John Burgum senior, born in Eardington, that I would like to find out about and his father Henry Burgum. Many of the Burgum family had worked in the Forest of Dean, often as forgemen, so were probably attracted to Shropshire when the forges and canal were built at Eardington in the 18th Century.
