A Black Cat (no collar on) was very sadly knocked down and killed on The Street, just down the road from The Crown.  It must have happened overnight on Mon 7 Aug, or in the very early hours of Tue 8 Aug.  The poor little thing was found this morning by two ladies who were out running, and who moved the body off the road to a neighbouring garden.  It looks like it was a well-cared for pet, and someone will be worried sick about it.  None of our immediate neighbours own a cat, so we don't really know how to find and inform the owners.  We will leave the poor thing were it is today, but will find a way to dispose of it this evening.

Thanks TP

If no one comes forward I would take it to the nearest vet to get it checked for a microchip. All vets care about animals and they would want to find the owner to tell them. It would be so sad if the owner were continuously searching and hoping for their cat to come home.

Hope you find the owner soon.

Hello. I think this might have been our cat. She was called Buffy and made a habit of losing collars as quickly as we could buy them, hence why she didn't have one. She was micro-chipped though as all our cats are.(we have 2 others, Buffys sister and a much younger male cat) Buffy made a habit of disappearing for days at a time on occasion (usually during spells of good weather) but always came back and behaved like she'd been on her holidays. She was a much loved and very affectionate family pet that my daughters have had since she was a kitten and was either 14 or 15 years old. She will be very sorely missed and my daughters and I are devastated at losing her. She was the fourth cat we have had run over on the road through the village and would be interested to know if anyone else, like us,  feels that something needs to be done about the speed of traffic on that road. Could the kind ladies who found Buffy please contact us to let us know what has been done with her body. Many thanks.

I wonder if it might be possible for this site to compile a photographic register of cats/dogs in the village to make identification of future fatalities easier.
