I feel I must respond to the letter by the chairman of West Norfolk LibDems, in which he criticises our local MPs in this week's YLP.

In my opinion, David Cameron must bear much of the blame for this situation. Mr Cameron declared himself to be "heir to Blair", and like his role model, seemed to pull ideas out of thin air. He made a law that .7%GDP should be given to Foreign Aid, and in pursuit of this, we give billions to India, which has its own space programme, and has at least twice stated that it never asked for aid, and does not need it. We give billions to China, a roaring economy, to help them develop footballe, and they offer millions in pursuit of players like Wayne Rooney. Ludicrous!

Mr Cameron declared that we would take in 3,000 unaccompanied child refugees; I do not disagree with the idea- it is very laudable, and would be a tremendous use of the foreign aid we are currently squandering. But it then became apparent that many of the "children" coming in were anywhere up to the age of 30. Dental checks, as carried out in many countries, were proposed to verify their age, but the liberal (with a small "l") and PC lobbies howled this down on the grounds that it was humiliating and would infringe human rights. And so we took in many who did not qualify, and who potentially could be claiming benefits they are not entitled to, working in the black economy, or maybe indulging in crime.

Our MPs would not be doing their job if they did not seek to remedy this.

Totally agree, Pete, this Foreign Aid law should and must be repealed. Unfortunately, I suspect many of those responsible for repealing this Act of Parliament, have hidden agendas for not so doing.

Fat salaries of those in charge of that particular fund, bonuses for meeting spending targets, heads of aid agencies creaming it off before it gets to its target- need I go on? The sooner it's stopped the better.
