Tracing a family member

I have just received word from a cousin that my brother who I have not seen for 23 years has sadly passed away. My relative is researching a family free and said she had been in contact with a few people in Ilfracombe who say he passed away around 10 years ago. Although we have never been a close family it seems strange that if the information is true that no one has been in contact with any of his brother's and sister. My cousin has not spoke of this to my brother or sister until we can confirm his death. I cannot give a great deal of Information other than his name Robert William Burns born 11/2/1953, raised in Alfreton Derbyshire, he worked as a teacher in London and moved to Ilfracombe late 80s early 90s and had a house overlooking the harbour. He may have worked as a teacher in or around Ilfracombe but I am not sure if this. If anyone has any information that can help me find the truth please contact me at jburns@jakemans .com
