Hi, I have arrived here by following my husbands KELMAN kin at Drum Croft, New and Old Deer. to his 5th Grt Gran Jean Ironside. Her father George Ironside was baptised at New Deer Feb 1720.
We did have this region on our Grand Tour 2010 but we couldn't get past Newcastle for the never ending rain!! What is the best time to visit(from Australia).
We are culture vultures e.g. a George Ironside of New Deer was said to have sung 101 verses of "Cantie Carlie" Bothy Ballad.(The High Kilted Muse by Peter Buchan). Love to find out more and whether you have a 'folk' arts festival.
