Hi thanks Jan for doing a great job on the site. Most things are great but if you don't mind can I point out some thoughts for you. Just a few ideas.

I tend to find it hard to get back to my Loughborough area forum if I am posting in Norwich for instance and want to return. I assume we are meant to speak to any forum in the UK or our own in our location- Loughborough for me. There are many great ideas for site ease and quick navigation. Some people might find the intuitiveness a bit complicated even though it is meant to make is easier. For example if I go to the Norwich forum it then sets in the Menu to Norwich. I'd prefer that to remain in Loughborough for me. Also when I was here I had to hit the Site menu to the right to select home, this takes me to the National forum and I have to go half way down the displayed page to find a button saying Loughborough forum. Many Streetlifers like a simple natured "what they see as easy to use" website. Mostly the intuitiveness is really handy with near buttons nicely placed to find things but I wonder if people will be almost suprised by this helping hand and it may somehow make it more complicated in there mind. To me I am happy how it is other than the Loughborough issue and getting back home to my local forum quickly. To others they may want it like Streetlife is a bit more hence doing a few screenshots of Streetlife before it closes so you have that record. Also some ex-streetlifers may not like being able to see it is a universal site to all of the UK. I mention that since people like there own little patch and it may again overwhelm some. This may or may not be a generational issue. For me personally, I am fine with most things other than the slight navigational issue I mentioned above. So the other points are what I picked up on Streetlife and Nextdoor when I read all the conversations. Not my views as I say but I am trying to think of others. Also the indexing picks things up so well and is so well done that vertually anything I do remains in the "my posts section". All you need to do with this is look at Nextdoor since there settings are very adaptable. I think Streetlifers tended to like "from there comments" just a daily digest and then a limited amount of "there posts" feeds. As I say look at Nextdoors settings it reveals alot of things to consider or is at least very enlightening. There securty is terrible but that's another storey.

David.

Hi David

Thank you for these suggestions. We will be making some changes today that will hopefully fix alot of these issues and make it easier to use - especially your points about navigation and being able to get back to your area easily.

We'll let you know when this is done

Alex

Hi David

We've updated the right hand menu and also added more helpful navigation elsewhere. Please let us know if that helps.

At the end of the day Jan the interface and simplicity will always win the day. Facebook is fancy gadgets as is Nextdoor to a certain extent but the market your aiming at wants much more simplicity. If your attracting other sources of income it may be a difficult balance between people and keeping it profitable. Perhaps if you have a good set of subjects like Streetlife down the left hand side of the page that you can click on and can post easily and quickly to without having to look through more than 10 subjects- people like that. While the subjects are very varied currently and even cleverly organized from a business standpoint in different areas of the web page top, bottom, middle, side, etc "one subject" instead will cover it well and people will find it just as fast and well for any monetary perspectives. As with Streetlife people don't mind people setting up business pages for them to go to in their local vicinity. Beyond local promotion, if you get ads with iphones or the Advertising that chases you it is somewhat distracting. I would stick to local advertising and make it a truly local site. If you adopt a Streetlife mentality you will get a good middle age upwards d/graphic. I would adopt a long-term plan rather than short term gain. I am not a business myself but it does interest me as a subject.
Feel free to move this to the suggestions and feedback section sorry.

One of the things I liked about it was its simplicity and lack of clutter of other messages i.e. Marketing message from businesses.

I would like to see a "What's On" section, and a "Helpful Information" section about local area.

I would also like to be able to register to receive local forum from the two areas where our elderly relatives live as I found it useful to relay information and find trades people for them.
