tracking down Midlothian warhero
Dear members, I would like to get your attention to my appeal and asking for your help to track down the relatives of F/Sgt Walter Scott ROWAN. Before the war broke out he was a clerk and volunteered for a Wireless Operator in the RAF. He went to 432 SQdn (RCAF) and on his first mission he crashed with his aircraft Halifax bomber LK811 over Budel,The Netherlands on the 28th May 1944. He bale out on time but became a POW on the 6th June 1944 at Antwerp. He was born 14 March(or August)1921?? His Mother Mrs Rowan lived at 10 Stobhill Road, Gowkshill Newtongrange,Midlothian,Scotland. I obtained this last information from a copy of his POW register card. As a project group of the municipality of Budel we planned an memorial in memory of the crew of Halifax LK811 on the 28th May 2017 and we hope that the families attending the unveiling of the memorial.
