Is cybersecurity really important?

I own a small business in Northampton and we have some of my customers’ important data stored in our database. I;ve been told by my partner that we need to outsource our cybersecurity to this tech firm to make sure nobody hacks our business.
But i think we’re a pretty small business and no one probably cares about stealing our data all that much plus it’s an extra expense! But my partner insists on it, what do you think?
