NEWSDESK October 2021

DANGEROUS DEVELOPMENT AS EX-CONVICTS FACILITY PLACED NEXT DOOR TO FACILITY FOR VULNERABLE PEOPLE

Stop development of a halfway house, housing ex-convicts in 1 Bramber Avenue, Peacehaven BN10 8LR.

·  The proposed facility will be a halfway house for ex-convicts, criminals, drugs dealers in a town with no police station and no regular police presence.

·  Bramber Avenue was recently the scene of armed police with machine guns attending a dangerous situation.

·  The proposed facility will be NEXT DOOR to a facility for the homeless, recovering addicts, single parents and women in refuge.

·  The proposed facility is in a respectable quiet road mostly of elderly and disabled people – In a neighbourhood of young families with children.

·  Peacehaven does not have a local police station and housing ex-convicts will inevitably increase crime in the area without any protection from the local police force.

·  Brighton and Peacehaven M.P. Russell-Moyes is against the proposal of this facility.

·  Residents of Bramber Avenue and Peacehaven have raised a petition with Change.org with over a 1000 signatures.

The news of a halfway house accommodation facility for ex-convicts is disaster waiting to happen with the likelihood of serious consequences.

Where… 1 Bramber Avenue, Peacehaven - A quiet residential neighbourhood of mostly retired and elderly residents, many of whom have challenging physical and mental issues.

Peacehaven is a relatively quiet town but without a local police station, neighbourhood patrols or local emergency services. Like many towns, it is already struggling with the pressures and rises in urban crime, drugs, congestion, etc.

There is the prospect that such a facility in this neighbourhood would have a negative effect on property values. Many residents have their entire lives, retirement and future finances invested in their property.

Most serious of all… this proposed facility would be right next door to an emergency accommodation facility for the homeless, vulnerable, families, children. Many of whom many have mental illnesses, physical disabilities, addictions and some residents accommodated in refuge from abusive backgrounds.

International Alliance (Seetec) raises serious concerns. Seetec is the company behind the proposed development and twice been under serious Government investigation with allegations of wrongful claims, reports and misleading government departments.

This is not a NIMBY situation... This proposed development requires very serious reconsideration and relocation elsewhere before there are serious consequences for the residents, community and neighbourhood of Bramber Avenue and local area.

Please listen to us… Please help by publicising this situation.
