Hi all, Thank you for allowing me on your site.

We are researching our ancestry and we have become bogged down with one particular side. We are visiting your part of the world from the Portsmouth area in June to visit some of the locations we have discovered. The person we are mainly focusing on is Laura Coe and her birth address on her birth certificate is High Street, Tremanoc in November of 1881. No number is given. Her mother was down as Jane Coe (née Lovel(l). The father is cited as William Coe and his occupation is described as  an  'iron moulder'. I must add that this family seemed to travel around quite a bit because in the 1881 census they are in Oswestry and by 1891 census they are in Chester. Also they seem to change their names round a bit too. The family names used are Coe, Wells-Coe and more commonly Wells. Laura was in Northop in 1901 working as a 'servant' in the Red Lion, which is still going as a restaurant and hotel. We will be going for a meal there in June and if Laura comes and waits on us I will probably choke. She worked there as Laura Wells. Her mother was Mary Jane Lovell (sometimes shown with one 'L') but she uses her middle name of Jane quite often. Laura's father was John William Wells but often it is William Coe or Wells.

For those that are still awake what we would like to find out is what address in High Street, Tremanoc(g) that Laura was born. I notice that Laura's birth certificate is dated as the 17th of November but registered a month later. As I have already mentioned the 1881 census has them living in Oswestry. Also I wondered if anyone would know if a 'iron moulder' could be an occupation that could be done away from an industrial site. I ask this because the family seemed to travel about a lot and, I am told, Lovell is a gypsy name (that's if we are still allowed to say gypsy).

Mary Jane Lovell was born in Bangor about 1855. Before she had Laura there was Eliza about 1879 in Bangor and Harry, who was born in West Wales, Canarvanshire.
