Looking for somewhere to rent in Rochester

Hello,
My name is John and I want to rent a flat/studio/house for me and my girlfriend, but not so expensive. I have never been in UK before and I am looking for a place to stay, because I have been accepted at university.
The only reason I am posting here is because I am looking for private accommodation, not live in campus. Plus I would prefer to stay/live with my girlfriend .I am looking for further information about this topic. I am sorry for my bad english.
