South Molton new samba drumming classes
A Samba class has been started in South Molton. Every Wednesday at the YMCA building from 6.45 until 8pm. Everything is provided. The cost is a modest £5 per session.The very able and patient teacher is one Athos Pittordou, who has samba in his blood and probably soul as well. For more information his email is [email protected] are the world's oldest musical instrument. The vibrations enter your body and have beneficial effects including enhancing the parasympathetic nervous system promoting calm. The group activity also has a mild physical benefit. Acquiring a new skill is rewarding too. The class itself is not competitive and members show kindness to each other, rare perhaps in our busy world.
Athos has been successfully teaching samba in Bideford since the mid-nineties and is very good at it. The aim is to become good enough to attend carnivals etc during the Summer months, which is great fun. Especially if the sun is out.
Those with difficulties are welcome. It is possible to play some of the percussion instruments whilst sitting down.I hope this was of interest.
