Dukes family of Yoxall Staffordshire England
Hello all. I descend from the Dukes family that lived in the Yoxall and Woodhouses area. William Dukes born 1784 in Yoxall and Hannah Woolley born 1794 in Yoxall are my 4th Great Grandparents. I descend down from their daughter Mary Dukes who was born in 1828 in Yoxall. Mary Dukes never married but had 11 children all in the Yoxall area all with an unknown father. One of those children was Rosa Dukes born 1848 in Yoxall was my 2nd Great Grandmother. The mystery for me is who fathered all of these children ? The Dukes were big families in the Yoxall area.
I have done my parents DNA tests on Ancestry and also my own. I have many matches all over the world to the Dukes family but I have still not found any evidence of who Rosa's father was. There is a chance it could of been incest between Mary and her father only because of a newspaper article that refers to Mary regarding cruelty to a child where she is referred to as the husband of William Dukes.
