Ashford urgently needs to be put back on the map! For too long we have had to accept a kind of Cinderella status in Spelthorne with all the attention going to more 'glamorous' areas like Staines and Shepperton. The recent news that we are likely to be the only area in the boro to lose our Green Lung just emphasises the need for us to start standing up and telling the truth to power (i.e. Spelthorne Council.)
We had to put up with all the hassle of the Pointless Esso Pipeline and we desperately need to be putting together firm ideas about what we feel as a community should go into the Local Plan. (NOT hopefully 9000 houses but enough to house folk on the waiting list, and those affordable and of good quality.)
Recent studies of LTNS (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) show they are popular and effective (despite what Government naysayers have been putting out.). Could be the only way we can deal with the huge traffic and parking problems we have.
Hopefully as many of us as possible can get to the Ashford Wide AGM on 3rd April to discuss these and other pressing issues!
