Lost: Lost purse near Sainsbury's - 0 replies

Nat2023 Posted by Nat2023 in Lost and found in Biggleswade on Wed Jan 4, 2023 9:06pm

Hi everyone. My Ukrainian refugee who lives with me at the moment Zhenya has lost her money purse. It's a Fossil light green purse with some sandy coloured pattern on it. She had £10, 300 Ukrainian Hryvnas, a Natwest card in my name and some of her ID cards in there. She lost it in/outside Sainsbury's in Bells Brook or on the way from Sainbury's through the Cricket Ground towards Fairfield estate on 4th Jan. If anyone has found it we would be very grateful to get it back as the ID cards would be very difficult to replace.

May thanks

Nat

Given the massive increase in the cost of gas and electricity (power) many will likely be looking for ways of reducing the amount of power we use, and the cost, without feeling the effects of such reductions.

Taking some simple steps we can all reduce our consumption of power and thereby cost.

For example, an important daily activity is cooking, and when using a cooker we are consuming significant amounts of power.

Many of us will cook two, three or four types of food stuffs like vegetables, fish, pasta etc when preparing meals. When doing so we might use, two, three or four saucepans on the same number of hob or cooker rings.

We can signicantly reduce our consumption of power, and thereby the cost, by using a three to four section steamer pan, using only a single power ring.

Using a steamer pan to boil water in the bottom section for cooking vegetables, like potatoes, or pasta, we can cook other ingredients, like vegetables or fish, in the upper sections of the steamer, which uses the steam generated from the boiling water in the bottom pan to cook them.

Different vegetables can be put into the steamer sections of the pan at various stages of cooking, to prevent them being overcooked.

The advantages of using a steamer to cook with are twofold, significant reduction in power needed, using only one hob or cooker ring, and retention of the flavour and goodness of food, by not losing it within the water it is cooked in.

A steamer from Ebay can be purchased from £12; the cost of which will likely be recovered when using for only a few weeks. Just search for "Steamer Pan Set".

Using a steamer can provide a simple and practical way of helping all the save on the cost of our power consumption.

Hope it helps! I have several other methods of saving power costs by making simple changes in the way we use power,

If anyone one is interested, I would be happy to share other ways to reduce power consumption to make cost savings, without having to spend anything to achieve if!

Hope this helps!

Historic Train Passing Through - 0 replies

mburdett555 Posted by mburdett555 in Buses, trains and public transport in Biggleswade on Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:48am

Good afternoon people of Biggleswade.

At approximate time of 1406 (full timings below) a historic intercity 125 train will be passing biggleswade station. The train, which is a LNER special, is prebooked only and passes through (probably quite quickly).

The train is in the old 1970s intercity 125 colours (as opposed to the modern LNER branding) and has been painted into these colours especially for this farewell railtour excursion.

There are probably already some pictures online, here is a video of the specially painted train https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-rQOWaolxM

Its worth emphasisng that these trains have been replaced by newer trains , and sunday was the last day of these in passenger service with LNER. This is the last opportunity to see this type of train on the East Coast mainline between Peterborough and Kings Cross.
